Why is our firm different?
Use of a team approach to cases: Unlike most family law firms that rely on one lawyer and his or her secretary, our firm employs a team approach to help us more efficiently represent our client’s interests. This team approach assigns two lawyers and a case manager to work on each case. We find this approach benefits our clients in a number of ways. First, the team approach allows for more efficiency. Certain necessary and important tasks don’t necessarily have to wait for the availability of the primary attorney. Next, the client has multiple resources to get information as necessary. Finally, since tasks can be allocated between team members, more routine matters can be handled at lower hourly rates while those matters requiring more sophistication and experience can be addressed by a more senior staff member.
Use of case managers: The Peskind Law firm is truly revolutionary in its use of case managers. A case manager is a highly trained and specialized paralegal that is the nucleus of the case. The case manager oversees all aspects of the case and assists the attorneys as necessary. We do not believe in a hierarchical approach to our cases and we believe that the case manager, as well as all members of the staff, are as integral as the attorneys to the effective representation our clients.
Use of a systematic approach to case management: Our firm has created and employs what we believe is a unique “system” that allows us the ability to more effectively represent our clients. Each component of the case is broken into various phases and specific checklists are relied on so that our level of preparation and performance is exceptional. Our teams review their cases regularly to assure that matters are moving forward appropriately. Also, as part of our systematic approach, early in the case we prepare an action plan that allows us to take a more focused approach. By doing this, we can help clients move through this difficult time more quickly and less expensively.
Use of sophisticated technology: Over the course of many years, we have refined our technology to allow us maximum efficiency. All information that we receive is digitized and electronically collated. By doing this it allows us the ability to transmit information to our clients, the court and the other attorney digitally through email. The system also allows us easier access to documents that can be voluminous. This helps expedite matters and also helps reduce time and money for the client. Also, we use a computerized case management system and certain specialized divorce software that further allows us to provide superior help to our clients.
Investment in continuing education: Our firm is committed to continuing education for all members of the staff. We believe that life-long learning is essential. Unlike most family law firms, we don’t limit ourselves to the attendance at local seminars. In addition to local seminars, members of our staff have attended seminars and symposiums all over the country for the purpose of enhancing our knowledge and techniques. This high-level continuing education allows us access to cutting-edge knowledge on both a macro as well as micro level, and makes us a more effective firm. In addition to our commitment to learning, we also teach and write on various family law topics. Several members of our staff are published authors and frequently lecture as well.
Application of principles of “Kaizen”: Kaizen is a Japanese terms that roughly translates as “ constant and never-ending improvement” This business management principle has been used for years by businesses and we believe that it is just as applicable to providing excellent representation in a family law matter. We are constantly refining our systems, and looking for ways to be a better law firm. The status quo is never good enough for us. We constantly strive to provide better service and the highest quality legal representation to our clients.
We care. Simply put, we care about our clients. We are honored by the trust that they place in our firm and do everything within our power to help them through a very difficult time in their lives.
